Remedial Soft Tissue Therapy

What is “Remedial Soft Tissue Therapy”?

A3-Sports-massage

Remedial massage uses a variety of advanced soft tissue techniques to address a recipients particular needs, such as alleviating pain, dysfunction or impairment. More general techniques are used for relaxation or restoration of tissues to their normal resting length.

Remedial Soft Tissue Therapy is used not only in treating athletes and sports injuries, but has a wide variety of applications to many people who do not participate in sport but have soft tissue problems as a result of occupational stresses on their body, postural issues or recovery from surgery. The most common examples would be back pain (from lifting injuries or poor sitting posture), neck and shoulder pain from carrying heavy items or sitting at a computer all day, hip and leg pain from driving, restriction of movement following fracture surgery or arm and shoulder pain from a physical job such as plastering. Whilst identification and counter-measures to remove the cause are important, remedial soft tissue therapy can reduce the pain and soft tissue imbalances resulting from day-to-day stresses.

In summary, the aims and benefits of Remedial Soft Tissue Massage include:

  • Muscle relaxation
  • Myofascial release enabling postural change
  • Pain relief
  • Functional movement restoration
